Foreword

It is my honor to write a foreword for this book, Foot and Ankle Disorders: An Illustrated Reference, edited by Dr. Hong-Geun Jung. This is a wonderful textbook, with great examples for each topic presented. The chapters are easy to follow and are extremely well illustrated giving the reader a simple guide to managing the step-by-step process of the surgical correction. What I really like about the text is the case-orientated approach for each topic which is far more useful to the practicing foot and ankle surgeon. The use of algorithms in foot and ankle surgery may not be that useful since each and every case is unique, and it has been my experience that each deformity does not fit nicely into the categories that the surgeon is trying to fit in an algorithm. Nonetheless, each topic is so well covered and illustrated that the emphasis on algorithms is of secondary importance.

All the authors added personal insight and added value to the individual chapters. I highly recommend this book not only to surgeons beginning a career in foot and ankle surgery but also to those more established surgeons who want to obtain a good review of case management. Mark Myerson, MD
