Clozapine Eosinophilic pneumonia: 10 case reports

In a retrospective study of 69 patients conducted between June 2012 and May 2019, 10 patients (2 women and 8 men) aged 25–57 years were described, who developed eosinophilic pneumonia during treatment with clozapine for treatment-resistant schizophrenia [routes and outcomes not stated]. The patients, who had treatment-resistant schizophrenia, had been receiving clozapine 25–500mg daily. Within 1–24 weeks of clozapine initiation, the patient developed eosinophilic pneumonia. Subsequently, five of these 10 patients received clozapine 100–400mg daily, and developed a second episode of eosinophilic pneumonia after 5–18 weeks. One of these 5 patients further received clozapine 100mg daily, and developed third episode of eosinophilic pneumonia after 12 weeks. Nakamura M, et al.
