Abstract. 1 Introduction The rapid development of power system, the single and power plant, substation capacity, city and industrial center load and the load density is increased, and the power system interconnection, leading to the modern power system at all levels of the grid in the short-circuit current level of increasing [ 1-5]. On how to effectively restrict the short circuit current level, on the safe operation of the power system, has important significance. This paper introduces the magnetic valve controllable reactor fault current limiter principle and simulation results.
2 The Key Technical Issues of the FCL Ideal fault current limiter system should not adversely affect, but in practical application, due to their respective principle defects, FCL can not completely satisfy the technical requirement of current limiter. When short-circuit fault, FCL participation system transient process, and system between the various devices to generate interactive effects. At present, FCL research has stuck in the middle, low pressure areas, engineering application is not much, how to design a high voltage, large capacity FCL research. 5) Study of FCL economic evaluation index, quantitative effect of technical factors, build reasonable technological economics evaluation model, the FCL application significance.
