Ferrous sulfate Pseudomelanosis gastri in an elderly patient: case report An 82-year-old man with iron deficiency anaemia was receiving oral ferrous sulfate supplementation [dosage and duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. During upper endoscopy for Barret’s oesophagus, dark pigmented stripes on his mucosa were incidentally observed. Findings of biopsies and iron staining were consistent with pseudomelanosis of the stomach [outcome not stated]. No melanosis had been evident 1 year earlier, before iron supplementation was initiated. Deeb L, et al.
