Various toxicities: 4 case reports In a study of 95 patients (aged 18–60 years) treated for depression with somatic symptoms, four adult patients [sexes and exact ages at reactions onsets not stated] were described, who developed dizziness, postural hypotension, panic, pyknosphygmia, sexual dysfunction or dysuria during antidepressant treatment with fluoxetine [not all doses and times to reactions onsets stated; outcomes of ADRs not stated]. The patients, who had depression with somatic symptoms, started receiving oral fluoxetine 20 mg/day capsule scheduled for 6 weeks [n=2; fluoxetine group], and oral fluoxetine along with electroacupuncture once a day, with a one-day interval in a week, scheduled for 6 weeks [n=2; electroacupuncture plus fluoxetine group]. However, they developed fluoxetine-induced serious adverse effects. The patients in the fluoxetine group developed dizziness and postural hypotension 1 week after treatment with fluoxetine (n=1) and panic and pyknosphygmia, which was observed on EKG, 4 weeks after treatment with fluoxetine (n=1). Whereas, the patients in electroacupuncture plus fluoxetine group developed sexual dysfunction (n=1) and dysuria (n=1). Treatments were discontinued in 4 patients due to fluoxetine-induced serious adverse effects, and the assessment was terminated. Duan D-M, et al.
