Double-Beta Decay: 75 Years of Investigations (Historical Survey) A. S. Barabash
A survey of basic advances made over 75 years of investigations into the realms of double-beta decay is given. Data from present-day experiments are presented, and the potential of next-generation detectors is described.
Photonucleon Reactions on Hg isotopes in the Region of the Giant Dipole Resonance B. S. Ishkhanov, V. N. Orlin, and S. Yu. Troshchiev
The induced-activity method is used to measure yields from photonucleon reactions induced in stable isotopes of Hg by beams of bremsstrahlung photons whose spectra have endpoint energies of 19.5 and 29.1 MeV. On the basis of a collective model, the partial cross sections and yields are calculated for photoproton and photoneutron reactions on these isotopes. The yields calculated theoretically are compared with their measured counterparts. The possibility for the production of the bypassed nucleus 196 Hg in photonucleon reactions is analyzed.
New Limit on the Mass of 14.4-keV Solar Axions Emitted in the М 1 Transition in 57 Fe Nuclei A. V. Derbin, V. N. Muratova, D. A. Semenov, and E. V. Unzhakov
Axions of energy 14.4 keV that originated from the М1 transition in 57 Fe in the Sun were sought by using the resonance-absorption reaction A + 57 Fe → 57 Fe∗ → 57 Fe + γ (14.4 keV). A sectioned Si(Li) detector arranged in a low-background facility was used to record photons from this reaction. This resulted in setting 0 3 | ≤ 3.0 × 10−6 . Within the hadronic-axion + gAN a new limit on the axion couplings to nucleons, |−1.19gAN model, the respective constraint on the axion mass is mA ≤ 145 eV (at a 95% C.L.).
Astrophysical S Factors for Radiative Proton Capture by 3 Н and 7 Li Nuclei S. B. Dubovichenko
The astrophysical S factors for the p3 Н and p7 Li radiative-capture processes in energy ranges extending to, respectively, 1 and 10 keV are considered on the basis of the potential cluster model where orbital states are classified according to Young diagrams and isospin. It is shown that the approach used, which takes into account only the E1 transition for p3 Н capture, makes it possible to describe well the most recent experimental data at c.m. energies from 50 keV to 5 MeV. In the case of proton capture by the 7 Li nucleus, the M 1 process was taken into account in addition to the E1 transition, and a general behavior and the value of the experimental S factor at astrophysical energies, including the resonance region around 0.441 MeV (in the laboratory frame), could be reproduced owing to this. 332

Verification of the Condition for Gluon Reggeization in the Next-to-Leading Order: Quark Part M. G. Kozlov, A. V. Reznichenko, and V. S. Fadin
The bootstrap condition for gluon production in multi-Regge kinematics is considered in the next-toleading order. Bootstrap conditions follow from the requirement that the Regge form of amplitudes in QCD be consistent with s-channel unitarity and are nonlinear relations between
