This International Handbook for Policy Research in School-Based Counseling is an ambitious attempt to document what we currently know about the relationships between policy and school-based counseling practice around the globe, to identify what needs to be known in order to promote effective practice, and to identify how research can help us know what is still unknown. As we worked on the handbook, we became aware that while policy research on school-based counseling is being conducted in many countries, policy research is a neglected focus within the counseling professional community in nearly every country.
