Chronic obstipation: case report A 56-year-old man developed chronic obstipation during treatment with lanthanum carbonate as chelation therapy for phosphate binding. The man was on dialysis and was admitted for regular check-up in connection with renal transplant listing. A pelvic radiography revealed a non-homogeneous radiopaque structure protruding onto the pelvic minor and smaller concrements onto the descending, ascending and sigmoid colon. He had not received contrast medium. During anamnesis, he reported chronic obstipation since receiving lanthanum carbonate for phosphate binding [dosage, route and time to reaction onset not stated]. The man was treated with unspecified enema resulting in undetectable radiopaque structure. Werner C, et al. Radiopaque coproliths in the pelvis minor.
