Lean Thinking for Sustainable Development Currently, it is a fact that Lean Production (LP) is a popularized term. A Google search by this term returned 183,000,000 results (0.45 s). Nevertheless, for the scientific community what matters are the publications in the most famous and indexed databases. Therefore, a simple search by the same term in all fields in the Scopus database returned 11,860 documents and 2853 results as a topic from all databases in the Web of Science. This could exponentially increase if other similar designations such as Lean Manufacturing and/or Lean Management, were used. Nevertheless, the authors point here is to show that Lean production comes to stay and it is not a “fashion word” or “common sense” as some academy teachers seems to continue in believing and refuse to credit Lean Production as a scientific subject.
