Eclampsia and pulmonary oedema: 2 case reports In a prospective non randomised controlled study of 188 women, 2 women [ages not stated] were described, who had pregnancy induced hypertension, and were admitted to The First People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province, China from June 2016 to February 2018, out of whom 1 woman developed eclampsia and another woman developed pulmonary oedema during treatment with magnesium sulfate and nifedipine for pregnancy induced hypertension. The women, who were hospitalised due to pregnancy induced hypertension, started receiving 25% IV magnesium sulfate injection (60mL). For IV infusion, 5% glucose solution (500mL) was added. Thereafter, the women received oral nifedipine 3mg thrice a day as controlled release tablet. However, the women developed eclampsia and pulmonary oedema, respectively, as an adverse reactions secondary to magnesium sulfate and nifedipine [durations of treatments to reactions onsets and outcomes not stated].
