Foreword

The relationship between urban space and people, an issue with a long preoccupation of urban experts, has been constantly theorized. Cities have historically played an important role not only in the economic and social transformation of the nation states, but also served at the same time as an instrument of hegemony, power and wealth for some classes, and of marginalization, peripheralization, and exploitation of others. Internal morphology of cities transform and their relationship with peripheries result in enormous changes in the land use, creation of real estates and uneven development of infrastructure influencing livelihoods, living conditions and health of the people in these spaces.
