Lactic acidosis: case report In a case-control study involving 92 elderly patients, one man [exact age not stated] was described, who developed mild asymptomatic lactic acidosis during treatment with metformin for type-2 diabetes mellitus [route, dosage and duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. The man’s lactic acid was >4 mmol/L, which was associated with anion-gap metabolic acidosis. His lactic acidosis had resolved following discontinuation of metformin. Gosmanova EO, et al.
