Metformin Non-bullous lichen planus pemphigoides: case report

A 62-year-old man developed non-bullous lichen planus pemphigoides (LPP) during treatment with metformin for type II diabetes mellitus. The man, who had type II diabetes mellitus, presented with two weeks history of intense generalized pruritus and causing sleep deprivation. He had been receiving metformin [dosage and route not stated]. Skin examination showed nummular erythematous hyperkeratotic plaques with secondary excoriations and nummular erythematous hyperkeratotic plaques with secondary excoriations on his leg. He suspected to have non-bullous pemphigoid. Therefore, skin biopsy findings were consistent with the diagnosis of non-bullous LPP [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated].
