Hyponatraemia and worsening of hyponatraemia : 19 case reports In a retrospective study of 36 patients, who were hospitalised in the ICU and received moxifloxacin therapy, 19 patients including 12 men and 7 women [ages not stated] were described, who developed hyponatraemia or worsening of hyponatraemia during treatment with moxifloxacin [indication and dosage not stated]. The patients, who were admitted in the ICU, started receiving treatment with IV moxifloxacin (n=14) or oral moxifloxacin (n=5). Prior to the initiation of moxifloxacin, 17 patients exhibited normal serum sodium level, while remaining 2 patients had hyponatraemia. After 1–14 days of the moxifloxacin treatment, 17 patients exhibited hyponatraemia, while the remaining 2 patients had worsening of pre-existing hyponatraemia. The patients received moxifloxacin for a total of 5–14 days. After completion of the moxifloxacin therapy, 12 patients showed resolution and 5 patients showed improvement of hyponatraemia, while it persisted in the remaining two patients. Seker R, et al.
