magnets, are recognized classics in modern magnetism. Pioneering studies of the superfluid phases and spin dynamics of liquid helium-3 were performed under his leadership using a unique ultra-low temperature cryostat that was built together with his students.

This issue is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Russian physicist and scientific leader, academician Andrei Stanislavovich Borovik-Romanov. For many years he headed the P. Kapitza Institute and was the editor-in-chief of JETP. The distinguishing features of his scientific style always remained innovation and the wide scope of his scientific interests, a deep insight into the essence of the phenomena under study, physical intuition, exceptional attention to the experimental methodologies and a critical attitude to the results. His fundamental works on the properties of weak ferromagnets and piezomagnets, as well as diverse studies of spin dynamics in antiferro-

Many of his important papers were published in our journal. This issue contains contributions by former students of Andrei Stanislavovich, who were all influenced by his scientific authority and charming personality at the beginning of their life in science, as well as colleagues who all held him in the highest regard.
