Severe allergic reaction: case report In a retrospective, descriptive study of 12 patients with ANCA-associated vasculitis, one elderly patient [exact age and sex not stated] was described, who developed severe allergic reaction during administration of plasma as replacement fluid in plasmapheresis. The patient with ANCA-associated vasculitis started receiving plasmapheresis with filtration and fresh frozen plasma [dosage and route not stated] as replacement fluid. The patient also received concomitant immunosuppressive therapy with cyclophosphamide. During the administration of plasma as replacement fluid in plasmapheresis, the patient developed a severe allergic reaction [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Therefore, the patient discontinued the plasmapheresis [outcome not stated]. Chalkia A, et al. Role of therapeutic plasmapheresis in ANCAassociated vasculitis.
