Pregabalin Priapism: case report
A 64-year-old man developed priapism during treatment with pregabalin for neuropathic pain. The man presented to an emergency department (ED) with a painful erection for two days without sexual stimulation. He had been receiving pregabalin 75mg two times a day for neuropathic pain for one year [route not stated]. Four days before the presentation, the dose of pregabalin was increased to 300mg two times a day due to persistent neuropathic pain. However, after the dose increase, the painful erection started. His medical history was significant for a cerebrovascular event experienced two years prior. He had been receiving aspirin [Coraspin] concomitantly. The man underwent cavernous blood aspiration and irrigation during his ED stay. Eventually, his condition resolved. He was discharged after 2 days with the suggestion of outpatient follow-up. He was advised to stop pregabalin use. At 1 month follow-up, he did not report any other attack of priapism. Karanci Y. Priapism associated with pregabalin.
