Abstract Computer power and internet proliferation together have given rise to some of the amazing and revolutionary technologies, one of them being the cloud computing. In the beginning of this century, this technology was already providing a paradigm shift in the way infrastructure is used in the businesses applications. This technology in particular has been one of the major reasons of the spread of e-learning, which was also a revolutionary technological breakthrough of its time. We all know that the e-learning has broken many barriers in the way of provision of learning and teaching (L&T), which has witnessed amazing new ways in the university education is imparted or the way the business world is organized. Saudi Arabia is a consumer of cloud computing and a major provider of the e-learning. This has resulted in a many research articles in the academic journals and meetings. In this article we shall analyze the effectiveness of cloud computing in Saudi Arabia in the education sector, in particular related with the e-learning. This we shall achieve by analyzing a research study survey, which we had conducted in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. To conclude our findings, we administered two different questionnaires one with the university’s IT staff and the other with students. Cloud computing is a well-established infrastructure and research area in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Indeed, various kinds of applications can be accomplished with the help of this technology. In particular, the cloud computing has facilitated a simple and convenient medium of learning by means of e-learning application and has resulted in significantly minimizing the cost of maintenance and development of learning resources. It can also be used to facilitate enormous amount of resources to education providers. There is a speculation that cloud computing will emerge as the fifth component after gas, electricity, telephone communication and water. In any case it would act as a primary resource in our daily lives. It is evident and clear that cloud computing services are cost effective and save time across the board. Over the past few years, information technology and its applications have been growing exponentially, not only in the developed countries such as the United States but also in the developing countries, including the KSA, which can be seen as a frontline state to adapt, implement and us
