The appointment of Dr. J a m e s S . F o s t e r as Associate Editor of TRANSACTIONS TMS-AIME was effective in August 1967 and announced in the October i s s u e of that journal. He has continued in that capacity for METALLURGICAL TRANSACTIONS and has beenlargely responsible for the review of papers from the Institute of Metals Division of The Metallurgical Society of AIME and physical metallurgy for the A m e r i c a n Society for Metals. His retirement from this position in September 1971 is necessitated byhis acceptance of a new appointment as Associate Professor, Department of Metallurgical E n g i n e e r ing, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan. The staff of METALLURGICAL TRANSACTIONS and the r e l a t e d committees of both Societies take this opportunity for recognizing his constructive contributions t o t h e i r publication programs and to wish him success in his new position. We are pleased t o announce the concurrent appointment of Dr. R o b e r t F . S e k e r k a , Associate Professor, Carnegie-Mellon University, as Associate Editor. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from H a r v a r d University in 1965 and was associated with the Westinghouse R e s e a r c h Laboratories until 1969 when he joined the faculty of the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science of Carnegie-Mellon University. His m a j o r r e s e a r c h a r e a s are m e t a l solidification, morphological stability, and the theory of crystal growth. We welcome Dr. Sekerkato the staff of METALLURGICAL TRANSACTIONS.
