Announcement Master Class on Molecular Recognition in Infection and Immunity

October 12-17, 1992 Aim of the course-The four-day residential course is organized on the basis of a Master Class concept. It will provide the participants with state-of-the-art lectures in the morning sessions; in the afternoons, selected students will present their ongoing research projects. These will be discussed by both faculty and participants, with consideration of conceptual as well as practical issues. Participants- The number of participants is limited to 40 students (at graduate and postdoctoral level), who are engaged in experimental research in immunology, cellular and molecular biology, in relation to infectious diseases and vaccinology. Applicants will be selected on the basis of a submitted summary of their present research activities. Faculty- Course director is Professor Marian C. Horzinek, Head of the Virology Section, Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Veterinary School at the Utrecht University. The faculty consists of 14 experts in the field of infection and immunity, recruited from various countries. Registration fee-Regular participants: dr. 1,600.- (approx. US $ 800.00). Students from universities affiliated with the University of Utrecht: dr. 800.- (limited to 8). Students selected for presentation of their research, as "test-cases" in the afternoon sessions will be exempted from paying the fee (limited to 12). The fee covers lodging and meals, but not travel expenses to and from Utrecht. Application-Deadline for receipt of applications: August 1, 1992. Students accepted for the Master Class will be notified by the end of August, after which payment of the registration fee is due within two weeks.
