Foreword
Anorectal and Colorectal Diseases was first published in 1989 under the editorship of Marc-Claude Marti and Jean-Claude Givel. Its success has now resulted in a third edition, which has an expanded chapter list to take into account the many developments that have occurred in coloproctology during the last 20 years. The editors have chosen an international group of authors who are authorities in their field. They have themselves contributed extensively to a work that comprises 49 chapters dealing with all aspects of colorectal disease. The book is divided into four sections. Section I contains 18 chapters on topics that include basic anatomy, physiology, clinical methodology and investigations. Sections II and III deal with anal and perianal diseases and colorectal dise
