Summary
This study was conducted in the context of the PROFILES project as one of several national Delphi studies and part of the International PROFILES Curricular Delphi Study on Science Education. On the basis of the chosen methodology, this work represents the first approach to a modern understanding of desirable aspects of scientific literacy based science education from the perspective of different German stakeholders on a scientifically and empirically profound basis. Various stakeholders involved in science education (students at school, science teachers, science education researchers, and scientists) were asked about aspects of science education they considered meaningful and pedagogically desirable for the scientifically literate individual in the society of today and the near future.
