Energy, environment and globalization are interrelated with each other through many channels. India, being an emerging economy, has achieved a threshold level of economic development whereby it can afford the improved quality of the environment. It is also a signatory to Paris Agreement. India has made many commitments in its Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs), which mainly include reducing the emission intensity by 30–35% from 2005 level by year 2030. To achieve this, India has taken many initiatives as well, namely increasing the contribution of renewable energy in the country’s energy mix to 40% by 2030, replacing the diesel and petrol vehicles by electrical vehicles, etc. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and providing LPG connections to below-poverty-line families are also the initiatives taken by the government for improving the local environment.
