Jennifer Hawkins’ timely book demonstrates how the centrality of feeling to teaching and learning is at last being recognised and explored. Since feeling is absolutely integral to thinking and reasoning, her explicit and insightful exploration of the necessity to include feeling within discussions of teaching and learning is long overdue. When people think of feeling, they often think solely of emotions. Although emotion science still lacks a universally agreed definition of emotion, there is a broader agreement over the kinds of feeling that emotions involve.
