Abstract
The proposed work presents particulars of a technique for the design and hardware implementation of an information hiding scheme using hardware-software co-simulation. The methodology aims to improve the design verification efficiency, development time and cost for DSP solutions. The scheme represents architecture for visual information hiding framework where information bits embedded into the host image by means of LSB matching technique. The design is tested by targeting a Spartan-3A DSP edition board (XC3SD3400A4FGG676C) and the simulated results illustrate that this architecture provides a better opening for application specific events as well as explores different areas concerned to low cost hardware implementation through a graphical user interface. 1 Introduction Visual information hiding systems have come out as an efficient solution for copyright protection, broadcast monitoring, fingerprinting, surveillance, medical application and many more confidential fields from the last few decades [31]. Steganography, cryptography, and watermarking are the three most conventional arts of data hiding, which are often brought into play for secret data transmission till now [37]. Steganography, a process to conceal secret or private information into

some other objects, is useful in military services, banking sectors, medical imaging [20], and in many others. Cryptography is the way to transmit covert information in an encrypted form. Presently, secured transmission has also been carried out more effectively by hiding information into the encrypted data [19]. The practice of digital watermarking has been involved as a course of information hiding to serve the purpose of copyright protection for multimedia objects. In digital watermarking, protection is done by embedding the secret message into the content and the detection is performed by extracting the message from the content [28]. The insertion of this data or watermark can be practiced either in spatial or frequency domain. In spatial domain, generally the lower bits of the content image pixels are modified [4, 41] by the secret mes
