Abstract This study aims to shed light on the capabilities and effectiveness of Healthcare Information Systems in a healthcare environment. In particular, our study focuses on the administrative and operational decisions influenced by Healthcare Information Systems. For, we have chosen the case of Alhada Military Hospital in Saudi Arabia. Our study has used a descriptive and analytical approach resulting from a feedback survey involving a questionnaire. Analysis of the responses of the survey has shown appreciation by users in retrieval of health information, enquiries on the available facilities and health information, and staff efficiency. The analysis has also shown that decision making was at the most significant criterion which had a statistically significant relationship between retrieval of health information and decision making of administrative and operational decisions of medical nature. We also found a significant relationship between accessibility of health information and administrative and medical decisionmaking. Given the similarity of the healthcare organizations, the finding of our research would be valid in Saudi Arabia and Gulf Cooperation Countries.
