Phototoxicity, gastrointestinal effects and lack of efficacy: 3 case reports In a retrospective, observational study of 31 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) who received pirfenidone treatment between 2011 to December 2016, 3 patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who developed phototoxicity (one patient), exhibited lack of efficacy (one patient), and gastrointestinal effects (one patient) during treatment with pirfenidone for IPF [routes, dosages, and durations of treatments to reactions onsets not stated]. Subsequently, patients pirfenidone treatment was discontinued in 2 patients, and pirfenidone dosages reduced in one patient who was non-adherent thereafter [outcomes not stated]. Ribes BM, et al.
