The collected contributions contained within this book have been written by friends and colleagues to acknowledge Ludwig Fahrmeir’s widespread and important impact on Statistics as a science, while celebrating his 65th Birthday. As a young student, Ludwig started his career as a Mathematician, but he quickly turned into a rising and shining star within the German and international Statistics community. He soon obtained both his PhD and his Habilitation at the Technical University of Munich. After a short period as a visiting professor at the University of Dortmund, he returned to his homeland Bavaria and was appointed Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Regensburg, at the age of 32.
