Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate Renal toxicity: case report A man [age not stated] with hepatitis B virus infection, treated with adefovir, was switched to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate [dosage not stated] because of adefovir resistance. His viraemia dropped to below detectable limits 56 weeks after starting tenofovir; however, tenofovir had to be withdrawn due to the development of drug-induced renal toxicity [duration of therapy to reaction onset not stated]. He was switched to entecavir, which resulted in a moderate but remarkable increase in his viraemia [patient outcome not stated]. Schildgen O, et al.
