GUEST EDITORIAL Selected Articles from the 11th International Symposium on Green and Sustainable Technologies for Materials Manufacturing and Processing The 11th International Symposium on Green and Sustainable Technologies for Materials Manufacturing and Processing was held as a part of MS&T 2019, from September 29 to October 3, 2019, in Portland, Oregon. This symposium was a melting pot of speakers and attendees from diverse backgrounds who presented research on different types of green and sustainable technologies that are related to materials manufacturing and processing and are also industrially feasible.

The symposium was divided into different sessions which showcased novel materials processing paradigms, sustainable design and development of technologies, and energy and bio-based materials. More particularly, the symposium hosted high-quality presentations on sustainability-related topics such as environmentally benign materials, products, and processes; alternative manufacturing processes with lower environmental burden; low-temperature aqueous synthesis and processing; colloidal processing; energy-saving forming/ sintering technologies; waste minimization and materials recycling technologies; materials design and selection to reduce environmental impact; and bioplastics, composites, and renewable/bio-based materials. In this special issue, selected papers from the symposium have been published after a peer review process. I wish to thank all authors and reviewers for their contribution and Kate Doman, Content Developer for ASM Journals, for her excellent support with the publication of the special issue.
