Gastric perforation: case report A 46-year-old man with metastatic renal cancer underwent radiotherapy, before receiving treatment with sunitinib [dosage not stated]. After 12 months of sunitinib treatment, he developed a duodenal ulcer perforation resulting in acute peritonitis. Following surgery, the outcome was favourable. Sunitinib was continued at a lower dose of 37.5 mg/day. One year later, he experienced upper gastrointestinal bleeding and died. Author comment: "We think that this event was probably due to sunitinib." Richard S, et al. A case of gastric perforation related to sunitinib after radiotherapy of spine in a patient with metastatic renal cell carcinoma. 46th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology : abstr. e13141, 4 Jun 2010.
