There are strong links between sustainability and the humanities, which go well beyond the mere inclusion of the social sciences. Yet, the debate on the contribution of the humanities to a better understanding of sustainable development is not as intensive as it should be. There is also a paucity of publications which have specifically focused on exploring the links between sustainability and humanities. As a result, interesting opportunities are being missed, and a holistic discussion on the intellectual and moral aspects of sustainable development is not fully taking place. It is against this background that the book ‘Sustainability and Humanities: linking social values, theology and spirituality towards sustainability’ has been produced.
