TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTICS AND ADJUSTMENT OF STEAM TURBINE UNITS D. V. Taradai1 Translated from Élektricheskie Stantsii, No. 3, March 2020, pp. 33 – 38.
The main activities conducted at the department for technical diagnostics and repair technologies of the All-Russia Thermal Engineering Institute (JSC “VTI”) are described. It is shown that the diagnostics of the main and auxiliary power equipment can be efficiently performed using specialized monitoring tools. Effective methods and tools for assembling rotor couplings of turbine units are presented. Technologies for repairing the blade apparatus of steam turbines arereviewed. foundation, including the upper foundation slab, supporting frames of the bearings, and the stator elements of the turbine unit under study. During testing, along with the vibration control, the tightening of the crossbars and bearing housings is monitored. The crack control of the turbine foundation during operation is carried out using proximity sensors and a software productdeveloped atthe JSC “VTI.” The specially designed equipment provides for an accurate assembling of sensors in the measurement sites, thereby reducing the errors associated with installation of the reference marks. Figure 1 represents the fluctuation bands of crack edges obtained from three sensors mounted on the longitudinal crossbar of a 200 MW turbine unit.
Diagnostics of foundations and turbine units. In recent years, the energy industry has been facing challenges associated with increased vibration and misalignment of turbine supporting structures. In the All-Russia Thermal Engineering Institute (JSC “VTI”), the technical diagnostics of foundations and turbine units installed atpower stations is performed using a multichannel vibration complex and a system for the diagnostics of absolute thermal expansions in steam turbine systems (“SDART”) [1]. As a rule, inspection is carried out during the machine startup from a cold state orshutdown for repair or maintenance. Before conducting diagnostic tests, the vibration sensors of themultichannel complex are mounted on the turbine 1

Deformations in the turbine foundation and the displacement of the stator elements appearing during operation of the unit represent some of the basic reasons for misalignment of the shaft train. In order to calculate the misalignment of the supporting structure of the shaft train, the JSC “VTI” developed a software productbased on the method of initial parameters. To this end, the shaft train supported by m supports is represented in the form of a discrete chain system comprising n
