Parasitic diseases encompass a wide-reaching problem affecting a significant percentage of the global population. The etiology and the manifestations, as well as the treatment, are variable and highly dependent on regional differences. Their effect on the patients can be quite severe, especially when they lead to complications involving the gastrointestinal tract, in addition to multiple other systems. Surgery represents a key part of the therapy both for the disease, as well as for the complications. This book is designed to present a comprehensive and state-of the-art approach to the diagnosis and surgical management of parasitic diseases involving different organ systems, with emphasis on the gastrointestinal tract.
