Sahelian African region covers countries located between the Atlantic Ocean (west and south), the Sahara Desert (north), and sub-humid/humid Africa (south). This region faces many political and socioeconomic challenges. According to the Permanent Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel, about 6 million people suffered extreme hunger in the Sahel last year, nearly half of whom are pastoralists and agropastoral livestock herders.
