Announcement ICTV Meetings at the International Congress of Virology, San Francisco The ICTV Plenary Session will be held during the Congress between 24th and 29th July. The exact date, time and location will be announced at the Congress. On 21st , 22nd and 23rd July, the ICTV Executive Committee will meet to discuss taxonomic business including new proposals for changes to the current taxonomy of viruses. Virologists wishing to make taxonomic proposals should do so via an appropriate member of the Executive Committee or Study Group Chair. The agenda of the Plenary Session will contain reports from members of the Executive Committee outlining developments since the previous Plenary Session in Paris in 2002. Time will be allowed for questions from the floor. Voting on constitutional matters including the appointment of new members of the Executive Committee will take place as usual. In addition, the Executive Committee plans to ask the Virology Division to sanction a change to the ICTV Statutes to widen the voting membership to include all members of the ICTV subcommittees, which consist mainly of Study Group Chairs. If approved, this new procedure will be used at the 2005 Plenary Session. Voting on taxonomic proposals will be by direct polling of ICTV members and will not take place during the 2005 Plenary Session.
