Pemphigus: case report A 58-year-old woman developed pemphigus during treatment with amlodipine for arterial hypertension. The woman, who had arterial hypertension, had been receiving amlodipine for 4 months [route and dosage not stated]. Following 20 days of treatment initiation, she had presented with extensive flaccid bullae with severe pruritus and a positive Nikolsky’s sign. However; mucosal membranes were not affected. Skin biopsy revealed the appearance of a superficial pemphigus under direct immunofluorescence. Direct immunofluorescence showed positive findings for antiintercellular antibodies. The woman started receiving treatment with prednisone and azathioprine for a month. Subsequently, she received methylprednisolone; however, no improvement noted. Considering the possibility of a therapeutic resistance and the onset of the symptomatology a drug-induced origin was suspected, which was supported by pharmacovigilance report. Therefore, following consultation with the cardiologist, amlodipine was discontinued with continued monitoring of blood pressure. After a week of amplodipine discontinuation, clinical progress with epidermisation of the lesions was noted with complete lightening of the skin.
