Rhabdomyolysis: case report A 56-year-old man developed rhabdomyolysis during treatment with atorvastatin for coronary artery disease in the form of inferolateral wall myocardial infarction. The man, who had a history of coronary artery disease (inferolateral wall myocardial infarction), presented with muscle tenderness over both the arms and thighs. He exhibited low back pain and pain over both the thighs for 1 week. He also reported passing dark coloured urine for 2 days. He had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention of the left circumflex artery 1 month prior to the presentation. He had been receiving aspirin, clopidogrel and atorvastatin 10mg tablets 8HS [sic]. On presentation, his liver function test showed elevated levels of total bilirubin and hepatic transaminases with a normal level of ALP and total protein. His creatine kinase level was also found to be elevated. Urine myoglobin was found to be positive. He was diagnosed with atorvastatin-induced rhabdomyolysis [duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated]. Duraisamy J, et al. Statin Induced Rhabdomyolysis.
