Allergy to benzylpenicillin: case report A 60-year-old woman developed allergy to benzylpenicillin, while being treated for spondylodiscitis caused by Streptococcus anginosus. The woman, who was hospitalised for a close examination, had paraparesis and bilateral pulmonary abscesses and epidural abscess secondary to spondylodiscitis caused by Streptococcus anginosus. Subsequently, she started receiving treatment with IV benzylpenicillin [Penicillin G] 60,000U four times daily for 4 weeks. However, she developed an allergy to benzylpenicillin [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Her treatment with benzylpenicillin was substituted with clindamycin. Later, she was shifted to another hospital for rehabilitation [outcome not stated]. Tatara Y, et al.
