In an editorial accompanying the study, Giancarlo DiMassa and Jos´e J Escarce from the University of California, Los Angeles, US, contend that "uninsured persons differ from insured persons in a variety of measured and unmeasured ways".2 They conclude that this study suggests that "unobserved differences between insured and uninsured persons may not be terribly important". 1.
