The Comparative Eduucation Society in Europe (CESE) is an international nonn profit making associaation of scientific and educational character. CESE was founded in 1961 in L London and is a founding society of the World Counciil of Comparative Educationn Societies (WCCES). CESE has traditioonally promoted a space for dialogue amongst schollars, specialists and young rresearchers from the field of education and other disciplines. More specifically, its purpose is to encourage and promote comparative and international studies inn education by: • promoting and imprroving the teaching of comparative education in institutiions of higher learning; • stimulating researchh; • facilitating the publiication and distribution of comparative studies in educatio on; • interesting professoors and teachers of other disciplines in the comparative and international dimenssion of their work; • co-operating with thhose who in other disciplines attempt to interpret educatio onal developments in a bbroad context; • organising conferennces and meetings; • collaborating with oother Comparative Education Societies across the world d in order to further interrnational action in this field. Every two years CES SE organises an international conference of high schollarly standards which attraccts academics, scholars, practitioners and students from m all parts of Europe and arround the world. Throughout its history, CESE has organised twenty-four such confe ferences, a special conference for the 25th anniversary off the Society, a symposium,, and two 'CESE In-Betweens'.
