Dear Readers and Authors, In the EAJ Editorial Board, we decided to introduce an additional article format: ‘Letters’. A Letter is a short paper (up to five pages in the eventual journal style) that has academic and/or practical relevance and consists of e.g. • An interesting idea, insight, clarification or observation of a cross-connection
that deserves publication, but is shorter than a usual research article.
• A detailed description or proposition of a new relevant research question impor-
tant for either academic or practical applications. It should motivate further work in this direction. • Short but curious mathematical results that deserve the attention of the actuarial community. • A novel application of mathematical/actuarial concepts. For Letter submissions we promise a review time of at most 6 weeks until the first decision. Consequently, Letters provide an opportunity to get good and pertinent ideas published quickly. The same refereeing standards as for other submissions apply, so originality and significance of the contribution will be considered important. We particularly encourage both academics and practitioners to contribute to this new format and look forward to your submissions under https://www.editorialmanager.com/euaj/. In the present issue of the EAJ you will find two survey articles (one on Monte Carlo simulation for risk assessment in practice written by Stefan Graf & Ralf Korn, and one on cyber risk written by Martin Eling) as well as 10 original research papers and two practitioner discussions. Enjoy the reading and stay safe and healthy in these special times!
