Imatinib Oral melanosis: case report A 43-year-old woman was referred for assessment of asymptomatic palatal pigmentation which was identified approximately 3 months after imatinib [route and dosage not stated] for chronic myeloid leukaemia. Investigations revealed a diffuse slate-grey discoloration of the hard palate. Her palatal biopsy test showed small, brown, granular material on the superficial lamina propria consistent with melanin and confirmed as melanin by histochemical staining. The c-Kit (CD117) immunohistochemistry data revealed focal reactivity of mesenchymal cells. These results were concordant with imatinib-induced melanosis. No active treatment or changes in her current medication were recommended [outcome not stated]. Wong M, et al.
