This book is the result of the encounter of a group of scholars from across the Humanities who met on the occasion of an international workshop held at the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh, 11–12 May 2017, entitled “Mobilizing Identities/Identities in Motion Through the First World War: History, Representations, and Memory.” The workshop was conceived and organized in the context of the EU-funded research project “Fatherland as Motherland: Unstable Gender and Nation in Italian Great War Literature” (Horizon 2020, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship; recipient: Dr Cristina Savettieri; supervisor: Professor Federica G.  Pedriali) on the interplay between nationalism and gender in First World War Italian literature.
