Preface
In the last two decades, we have seen a significant increase of interest in agentbased computing. This field is now set to become one of the key technologies in the twenty-first century. It is crucial that both academics and industrialists within Europe have access to a forum at which current research and application issues are presented and discussed. In December 2003, the First European Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems (EUMAS) was held at the University of Oxford, UK. This workshop emerged from a number of related workshops and other scholarly activities that were taking place at both national and European levels,
