Naproxen Leucocytoclastic vasculitis: case report

A middle-aged adult woman [exact age not stated] developed leucocytoclastic vasculitis while receiving naproxen for chronic right shoulder pain [route, dosage, duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated]. The woman presented to an accident and emergency department with a skin rash following naproxen use for her chronic right shoulder pain. Subsequent skin biopsy showed a leucocytoclastic vasculitis, which was diagnosed as an adverse reaction to naproxen by dermatology. Subsequently, she was referred to rheumatology because of her underlying shoulder pain, a raised ESR and rheumatoid factor. Based on further investigations, she was diagnosed with synovitis acne pustulosis hyperostosis osteitis (SAPHO) syndrome [aetiology unknown]. Anandan L, et al.
