Drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms: case report In a retrospective study of electronic medical records (treatment received from 04 June 2008 to 10 August 2018), a 2-year-old girl was described, who developed cutaneous adverse reaction in the form of drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) while receiving antibiotic therapy with amoxicillin. The girl, who had been receiving amoxicillin [route and dosage not stated], was diagnosed with DRESS secondary to amoxicillin. Her clinical presentations included temperature >38°C, acute rash, thrombocytopenia and bilateral mild lymphadenopathy. Additionally, she was found to have developed transaminitis, elevated inflammatory markers and atypical lymphocytosis. Onset time of her cutaneous reaction was 7 days. The girl was hospitalised, and she received unspecified steroids for a total of 9 days (2 days at hospital). Afterwards, amoxicillin was discontinued [outcome not stated]. Author comment: "The youngest patient in our study was a 2-year-old white girl diagnosed with amoxicillin-induced DRESS." Zhang C, et al.
