Betamethasone butyrate propionate/ dexamethasone Tinea incognito in a child: case report A 3-year-old girl presented with a pruritic rash on her face and trunk of 2 months’ duration. The lesion had spread to her trunk following topical administration of dexamethasone and betamethasone butyrate propionate ointments elsewhere [dosages and indications not stated; durations of treatments to reaction onset not clearly stated]. Examination revealed fever, and extensive erythema with pustules. Genotyping analysis of cultured hyphae from the lesions was consistent with tinea incognito caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes var. interdigitale mimicking pustular psoriasis. She received terbinafine and luliconazole. Three weeks later, her skin lesion had resolved, and had not recurred following a further 3 months of treatment. Kawakami Y, et al.
