“Essential Tremor” is the most common movement disorder, which may be mild in severity, and therefore may not come to medical attention in many cases. However, essential tremor is sometimes quite debilitating and may interfere with one’s daily activities. Though there is no cure for essential tremor, the last decade has brought about many new advances in treatment for this condition, including deep brain stimulation, MRI-guided focused ultrasound, and even non-invasive treatments such as the Liftware spoon. Because essential tremor is often thought of as “benign”, many medical professionals may not be aware of these cutting edge, newer treatments.
