ICMAT/ICAM to be Held July 2005 in Singapore The Materials Research Society of Singapore will host the 3rd International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT) in conjunction with the International Union of Materials Research Societies’ 9th International Conference on Advanced Materials (ICAM) July 3–8, 2005. B.V.R. Chowdari of the National University of Singapore is the conference chair. A range of contemporary topics of importance for the science, engineering, and technology of materials will be discussed. The conference consists of 25 technical symposia, covering traditional and new areas of materials. Joint symposia will also be held with the 7th International Conference on Ecomaterials, 13 Annual
World Forum on Advanced Materials, and the Third Vacuum and Surface Sciences Conference of Asia and Australia. There will also be a symposium on materials education. Plenary and public lectures will be delivered by Nobel Laureates Steven Chu (Stanford University), Roald Hoffmann (Cornell University), Alan G. MacDiarmid (University of Pennsylvania and University of Texas), and Carl Wieman (University of Colorado). In addition, Chenming C. Hu (University of California, Berkeley, USA), C.N.R. Rao (Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, India), Bernard Raveau (CNRT Laboratoire CRISMAT ENSICAEN, France), and
Subra Suresh (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) will present plenary addresses to the conference attendees. The abstract deadline is January 31, 2005.
